The Energy Of Story
The power of story became obvious during the Unlock Mentoring sessions we have with our clients. To begin the session people often start by telling you their story. This is an obvious and good place to start and useful to get to know someone. That said, I soon realised that some people were very attached to their ‘old stories’ and repeated them session after session and often resisted the idea that it was story that they were telling themselves. I discovered that this can be unconscious, emphasising that most people are not consciously aware of their stories or its power. We gain energy from telling our story over and over. It can help us make sense even justify our actions or help us feel better or affirm that the other ‘protagonists’ in the story are to blame.
Whatever the reason, from the science you have learned, you now know that repeating a negative life story over and over only serves to amplify its energy and vibration. It would be impossible to create a new story from the energy of the old one. A story from your heart.
This is my favourite quote from Neville; it describes perfectly the start of the creative process. The desire to be different. Your heart’s desire must be to become the best version of yourself, then choose to be, and write a new life story.
“To be transformed, the whole basis of your thoughts must change. But your thoughts cannot change unless you have new ideas, for you think from your ideas. All transformation begins with an intense, burning desire to be transformed. The first step in the “renewing of the mind” is desire. You must want to be different [and intend to be] before you can begin to change yourself. Then you must make your future dream a present fact. You do this by assuming the feeling of your wish fulfilled. By desiring to be other than what you are, you can create an ideal of the person you want to be and assume that you are already that person.”
